The partnership with ISB will only increase
Mr Fausto Miari, Purchasing Manager, can you please tell us what your company does?
At home as well as in public places, Vimec shifts people mobility to a higher level. We design and manufacture solutions for accessibility and mobility as stairlifts and elevators. Since 1980 Vimec has installed over 140,000 custom-made products to overcome architectural barriers.
Today Vimec is part of Latour, a Swedish in-vestment group, with the aim of serving markets around the world with solutions that can improve people life quality. Regarding the domestic market, Vimec can count on a network of consultants and installation centers (over 100) allowing a widespread presence; we have five branches (Spain, France, UK, Ger-many and Poland) and more than 400 distributors all over the world. To make a unique user experience we rely on design, a 360°sustainability and technology, the guidelines of our product development process.
What is your flagship product?
We are different from all our competitors thanks to our wide product range, which can be grouped into two main brand lines:
- Vimec Accessibility is the brand line that collect Vimec heritance and experience to support people with mobility difficulties, with custom made solutions designed to ensure their autonomy and independence such as stairlifts, lifts, steplifts, elevators and mobile stair lifts;
- Vimec Homelift is the brand line dedicated to those who want to add a homelift to their houses, reaching a high level of home comfort; Vimec homelifts are characterized by Italian design, technology, eco-sustainability and they are suitable both for indoor and outdoor installation. In 2021 our new Homelift E20 won the RED Dot Award, one of the most renowned Euro-pean design award.
When and why did you start the partnership with ISB?
The partnership with ISB started in 2020. At that time Vimec was looking for a certified supplier with customer portfolio including the largest European manufacturers. In addition, we were searching for a partner that could ensure a good value for money with a wide range of bearings and slewing bearings. Today ISB is an established supplier, both for the supply of codes that are part of the mass production and for new projects/prototypes.
What are the “pluses” of this partnership with ISB?
ISB pluses are certainly the value for money, the quality of service and the stock availability. The company offers also a wide range of products related to power transmission that in the future could be used by Vimec in new projects, which include, for example, looking assemblies and other translation technologies.
What are your plans for the future?
Vimec is placed in a market that is growing from year to year, and faces a dual-line development: on one side the increasing competition from new producers or larger groups that buy other producers (this situation causes an increasing price pressure); on the other side customers become more conscious thus re-quiring higher customisation and performance.
Vimec has a growth plan that foresees the building partnerships with all strategic sup-pliers, providing the supply chain with information trasparency, check and measurability able to assure the timeline that the competitive scenario is asking for.
